My mother used to hate the sounds these made!
When I was at school, the best gift I ever received was a box of 24 Colleen crayons (though you did get boxes of 36). I remember how the most popular colours got shorter and shorter, while the black and white ones stayed long because they were never used! It was so nice to have a new box where they were all the same length!
